Do you remember how your mom, or mother figure would tell you to clean up your room? Or nag at you to clean up after yourself?

Why do you think that she did that---other than the fact that she was tired of cleaning up after you?

It was likely because it is a great habit to get into: Cleaning up after yourself.

Many of us first learn this idea in kindergarten here in North America. It is a tool that can help you throughout your life. I know that from my time as a firefighter, the bulk of the problems that I face in the emergency response arena are due to breakdowns in "cleaning up after one self". If things begin the slide of not being cleaned up, they can quickly turn into hazards that then may in turn become a problem because of other extraneous problems. Think about it, if there were a short in a basement that had not flammable product nearby, the short may spark, but nothing would catch fire, and the problem is now just an electrical one. If on the other hand there is a bulk of material close to the short, and a bunch of things piled up near it that is flammable, well now we have a full structure fire to deal with. Do you think that this analogy could be used in your business life? For sure it can! If you clean up after yourself, and make sure that you are getting to all the loose ends in your business, then any possible fire hazard that you may have will simply become a quick and easy fix, because rather than piling up all sorts of problems, you have systems in place to answer all of the questions of your clients, and the only thing that you need to worry about is what you love doing about your business.

Examples of the systems that we put into place:

  1. Prospecting is done by a team or individual that is responsible for building a pipeline of qualified clients that need your help
  2. The customer service teams help the clients reach their goals while using your product or service
  3. you continue to check and communicate with the client until they are incredibly satisfied, and hopefully a RAVING FAN of your product or service
  4. You continue to connect and followup to see if there are any problems, and "Clean up" andy loose ends

This is a simple outlines that I would recommend to many that they employ in their system layout, and tweak it so that it works best for them.
