This weeks interview was with Dr. Chris Spooner.
Dr. Spooner has lived in Vernon for 10 years. He opened up Paradigm Naturopathic less than 2 years ago, after figuring out that his patients need the type of clinic that was not available elsewhere at that time. His clinic now has two naturopathic Doctors, two massage therapists, and a growing number of Yoga instructors for their busy downtown studio. The main idea behind the Paradigm clinic is to be the Centre for Health and Healing within Vernon.
Chris Spooner has been in the news talking about patient care with respect to medical marijuana. His devotion to helping others is very obvious, and was represented well in a candid remark that I made to him a number of weeks ago, when I mentioned that I should come in to see him since I have coverage from my insurance company, He said to me "It is ALWAYS better to NOT need to visit me [a doctor]", (than to have spare money from your insurance provider). That stuck with me, and it is a basis of his philosophy on care and true from what we talked about in this interview. I learned so many new things about my friend Chris, from the reason that he chose to become a doctor, to the fact that he was a competitive rower who competed in the Pan AM games in 1991.
We enjoyed a coffee while we chatted, and Dr. Spooner was gracious enough to try out some of the "yeast free Iron rich bread" that I had baked earlier in the day. It was a very enjoyable conversation, and I hope that you like listening to it as much as I enjoyed talking to Chris.
