Do you ever consider the products that we continue to use in our everyday life?

Do you think about the result of buying all of those plastic containers and then simply "recycling them"?

Do you recycle your plastics?  The number of animals that plastic kills on an annual basis is staggering. Even if the truth about the plastic island in the pacific are not true (which by most reputable accounts--there is no such island) the widespread use of plastics is incredibly insidious. There is just too much of it. I remember saying to myself when the first plastic container that I tried to "break into" and could not without a blow torch and a full set of master craft tools "These packages are going to be the death of "us"!" I was unaware then (this was back in the 90's) that that statement would be so true so soon.

With this in mind, I remember that when I was growing up, my grandparents had a lot of preserves. The way that they contained these preserves was to put them into glass mason jars. This worked really well, as it was air tight, and the soups, or preserves lasted for many seasons (if they needed to) in these jars. Why did we move away from these products? it soon became cheaper and more time effective to use "plastic" instead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic . Have you ever bought a product that may be the size of a comb, but it has three to eight times its mass in plastics surrounding it? Is it a fight to get the packaging off of it? I have said since the time that we first started to see this wrapping style, that "packaging will be our end". Christmas is especially package crazy, and I can only imagine the amount of plastics per year that flow to the island in the pacific that continues to grow.

What I am trying to do in our household is to reduce the consumption of products that require us to buy it in a plastic container, and I have begun to buy many preserve style glass containers for all of out bulk foods, as well as our home made sauces.

Can you imagine if we all did what we were taught by our grandparents to do? The book "How to win friends and influence people" was first written in the year 1936. It continues to be the timeless benchmark that we all use for relationship building. This is just another example of what our grandparents (generation) have taught us in the past but still holds true today.

We can also transcend this lesson of remembering what your grandparents taught you to the era of the Search engines. If you want to build a lasting relationship with an online following , use the lessons that your grandparents taught you. Build your marketing plan around your outcome, and then your web friends, and influencers will help you get to the top too!
