The wheel of SEO
Imagine that you have a large circle. Now divide that circle into ten pie pieces. Each of those pieces represents a portion of your online presence. This is what we will refer to as the wheel of SEO. Now select the ones that google weights the most:
- Your web site
- Quality Backlinks
- Pinterest (this is a flavour that is popular today)
- Yelp
- Blog posts
Now there are other aspects of the online presence that will help you get to the top, and they include the following:
- Foursquare
- Google places
- Linked in
- Your articles online on other sites pointing to your site.
Here is a depiction of the wheel of SEO:

This is a depiction of a wheel that you can fill in to the levels that you are concentrating on your different online presence
If you were to rate each of these as to the level of focus that you are presently giving to each of these areas, you will begin too draw a line across the section of the pie, with the smaller focus being closer to the centre of the pie.
Once you have completed the drawing, imagine that your wheel of SEO- your online wheel of presence is the wheel that you just made.
How does it roll? Do you need to fix an area of your wheel so that it rolls well all the way around?
Here is what I see most often with people that are working with the internet:
This is their wheel of SEO:

This is the typical wheel that does not roll well, and cannot continue to roll for very long. If something does not change from this scenario, your ranking will NOT improve.
Typically there is an area that they have a major focus on, and that area gets the most of the wheel, and other areas get neglected, or not looked after at all. As a result they have a wheel of SEO/SEM that does not roll at all.
If you find yourself in this situation, you may want to reflect on the areas that you are focusing on. IS there one area that is being neglected to focus on one that you believe will bring you quick results? Please know that your online marketing cannot work well if you only focus on one area. There is no quick fix to getting your site, and your content to the top of the search engines. It is a PROCESS and that involves many different facets that work together to make the whole project function. Remember that this is an ongoing project that requires you to continue to add NEW and RELEVANT data (content) to your posts/blog/site/social media- so that you can remain at the top once you get there.
